HISTORY

YESTERDAY

1980-2000

The founders, Pete and Geri Scazzero, led a team who reflected God’s loving heart for those on the margins. Though their peers moved toward suburbia, they moved toward the urban poor. Relationships were built among the homeless, broken, and hurting.

TODAY

2000-2018

50% of families in Elmhurst/Corona are poor. 70% are foreign-born. Elmhurst/Corona is the 3rd most overcrowded school district among the one million students in NYC.

We measure success along the lines of Relief, Restoration and Reinvestment. We do this through 10 Programs: Storytime, Mentoring, Young Governors, Booster Club, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Health Center, Food Pantry, and ESL.

TOMORROW

2019 & Beyond

Tomorrow’s success also depends on the development of a New Life CDCitizen (called Citizen). A Citizen is a person who is now able to make the 3 BIG DECLARATIONS. The most recent person who has made the declarations has been Chuncey Murray.
